Leech Lake Walleyes: For me, walleye fishing has been best in 8-12 ft on the weed edges and in the weeds. Slip bobber and a leech, jig, and a leech, or more aggressive bait like a fork tail plastic have been working. Cycling through different techniques to see what the fish want has been key. There are many fish on offshore humps in 16-22 ft typically sitting on the rock to sand/mud edges. Those fish have been harder to get to go but some fish are still coming off of them. Another good technique has been pulling spinners to cover ground and find active fish. Water temps have crept up and are now in the upper 60s to low 70s. There has been consistent wind for what seems like the whole season so keying in on the side of the structure that has been getting the wind is a good place to start looking.
Leech Lake Panfish: Crappies and Bluegills are hanging out in weedy shallow bays often being found near the wild rice. Simple tactics like a crawler and jig have worked well.
