This fishing report covers Leech Lake and the Longville Minnesota area. Walleyes on Leech Lake are being found in 10-15 feet of water. With a lot of rain and wind in the last week, water temps have stayed around the upper 50s which has got fish in a variety of locations. You can still find them on typical early spring spots. Main lake points and larger sand flat with rock mixed in. I am now seeing larger schools of fish showing up offshore, but it has been tough to get them to bite. A jig and shiner is still producing fish, but leeches are begging to take over. A slip bobber and leech is hard to beat! Make sure to use your electronics and find fish as things are changing every day.
Panfishing in the Longville area has been pretty good. The fish were up shallow close to the bank, but as I previously talked about the rain and wind cooled the shallows and slid them a little deeper. I found fish just out from where they previously were in 7-10 ft. Weed flats close to known spawning areas are a good place to start looking for them. A slip bobber and minnow have been working great. Good Luck Fishing!
